Submission Guidelines

Submission deadline for Spring Issue is March 15, 2014

We publish works of fiction, non-fiction, and poetry from established and beginning writers. We are, at this time, unable to publish art.

Fiction: Please submit up to 10 pages of fiction. This may be more than one story.

Non-fiction: Please submit up to 10 pages of non-fiction. This may be more than one essay.

Poetry: Please submit up to 3 poems, or one longer poem.

There is no reading or submission fee at Open Window.

Simultaneous submissions are acceptable if immediate notification is given of publication elsewhere.

Please—no fonts smaller than 12pt. Please number your pages.

Provide a cover letter with your submissions, describing the theme/kind of writing you are submitting, so the appropriate editor will read your work.  Your cover letter should also contain a short bio, in which you give a brief description of yourself. If your work is selected for open window, your bio will be published as well. Refer to the bio page of the contributing editors for tips on writing a bio, if you have never submitted one before.

The content of Open Window is selected by Senior Editor Lori Howe, a group of contributing editors.

If your work is chosen for Open Window, it will appear in the upcoming issue, which will be archived on-line when the next issue comes out.

Please send all submissions to openwindow.howe78@gmail.com as a Word attachment. Submissions sent in any other format will not be considered for publication.

Notification: if you submit work to Open Window, you will receive an email from us, notifying you of acceptance or rejection of your work.
